Antwone Fisher Movie Lesson Plan will help teachers show their students the true story of a man who was able to rise above his feelings and emotions which came from the circumstances of his life.
After completing Antwone Fisher Movie Lesson Plan, students will gain a stronger understanding of growing character skills, overcoming obstacles, and being a lighthouse.
Antwone Fisher was angry at the world…and he had every reason to be. Abused by his foster family, Antwone joined the Navy and became a hardened man who was intent on not letting anyone hurt him ever again. But the only person he was hurting was himself.
With help from a Navy psychologist, Antwone’s shell began to crack. He learned to start trusting others and himself. But he was not able to truly free himself from his past until he went on a journey to find his real family and forgive those who had hurt him.
Antwone Fisher Movie Lesson Plan teaches us that we all have the power to write our own story when we focus on the choices we make, rather than the circumstances of our past and our present. Just like Antwone, we can refuse to let our past destroy us and we can keep standing strong so we can create our future.
In order to complete these activities, students will need to watch the movie Antwone Fisher, which has a rating of PG-13 (violence, language and mature thematic material involving child abuse) and a run time of 2 hours.
Each of our lesson plans includes the following activities:
✅ Reflection: allows students to journal about one of the movie’s themes prior to watching.
✅ Analysis: questions and prompts to analyze the characters, plot, and climax of the movie.
✅ Practice & Discussion: a partner/group activity that takes the principles of the movie and asks students to take action and grow in their own lives.
✅ Extension: a RAFT (Role-Audience-Format-Topic) writing prompt to help students apply their new knowledge.
✅ Lead for Impact: challenges students to pinpoint how the hero of the story exhibited The 12 Fundamentals of Impact and then synthesize how they can apply the lessons to writing their own story.
WARNING: This is a DEEP LEARNING lesson plan to help students employ a LEADERSHIP approach to SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL LEARNING.
